ECOZA (econazole nitrate) · RESILIA PHARMS

Infectious Disease Approved 2013-10-24

Ecoza (econazole nitrate) topical foam, 1%, is indicated for the treatment of interdigital tinea pedis (athlete's foot between the toes) in patients 12 years of age and older. It is specifically indicated for infections caused by *Trichophyton rubrum*, *Trichophyton mentagrophytes*, and *Epidermophyton floccosum*.

How ECOZA Works

Ecoza is an azole antifungal. It works by inhibiting the enzyme lanosterol 14α-demethylase, which is essential for the biosynthesis of ergosterol. Ergosterol is a critical component of the fungal cell membrane; its depletion leads to increased membrane permeability and osmotic instability, resulting in the inhibition of fungal growth and cell death of the targeted pathogens.
