How ZIANA Works

Ziana utilizes a dual mechanism of action. Clindamycin, a lincosamide antibiotic, binds to the 50S ribosomal subunits of susceptible bacteria, inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis and reducing the population of *Cutibacterium acnes*. Tretinoin decreases the cohesiveness of follicular epithelial cells, which inhibits the formation of microcomedones. Additionally, tretinoin stimulates mitotic activity and increases the turnover of follicular epithelial cells, facilitating the extrusion of existing comedones.
